Job Summary:
The Farm/Facility Handyman supports the Kona Facility Manager with day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across farm properties, facilities, employee housing, vehicles, tools, and farm equipment. This position assists with preventative maintenance, minor repairs, groundskeeping, general cleaning, inventory support, and wet/dry mill operations as needed. The Farm/Facility Handyman plays an important role in keeping the farm, facilities, equipment, and work areas safe, organized, and operational.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep for farm buildings, warehouse wet/dry mills areas, employee housing, storage areas, and shared workspaces
- Assist with minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, cleaning, and general repair tasks as needed
- Support preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting for vehicles, farm equipment, tools, pumps, machinery, and facility systems
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas before, during, and after operations
- Use machinery, equipment, tools, and supplies properly and report unsafe conditions, damage, repair needs, or equipment failures to management
- Perform debris removal, fence/gate repairs, and basic irrigation support as needed
- Assist with farm errands, supply pickups, material movement, equipment staging, and other operational support tasks.
- Support wet and dry mill activities as needed, including receiving coffee, moving coffee bags, weighing parchment coffee, packing, sewing, stowing, sorting, drying, and maintaining clean processing areas
- Assist with coffee lot identification, inventory counts, storage organization, and monthly or annual inventory support
- Assist with fertilizing, pesticide application support, and other farm maintenance tasks only as assigned and in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements
- Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, pest concerns, leaks, equipment problems, or facility damage promptly
- Assist the Kona Facility Manager with day-to-day facility, housing, vehicle, farm equipment, and operational maintenance needs
- Perform other farm, facility, and maintenance-related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in farm maintenance, facility maintenance, construction, equipment repair, or a similar hands-on role preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, small equipment, vehicles, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, irrigation, or general repair work is preferred
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and collaborate with farm and facility teams
- Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers regarding repairs, safety concerns, supply needs, and work progress
- Ability to safely lift, carry, load, unload, and move heavy materials, tools, equipment, and coffee bags as needed
- Farm, facility, groundskeeping, equipment, or general maintenance experience preferred
- Willingness to learn new skills and assist in different areas of farm and facility operations
- Reliable, self-motivated, safety-focused, and able to complete assigned tasks with limited supervision
- Must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work overtime, weekends, or adjusted schedules when operational needs require
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract required
Comply with all company policies and procedures, demonstrating a strong commitment to Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in support of product integrity, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance
Location: Onsite-Kona, Hawaii
Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00am- 3:30pm **Some Weekends**
Pay: $25.75 per hour
